The Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) and the AJBCC invite you to join our upcoming Corporate Governance Briefing: "Update to regulatory changes and associated implications and penalties for Boards and Directors" on Tuesday, 25 February 2025. This seminar is provided for JCCI and AJBCC members who are serving directors and/or in equivalent executive management positions.

Parking: There are multiple public carparks nearby and the venue is a short distance from both Gadigal and Town Hall stations.

Participation fee: AU$35.00 (this small fee is to cover JCCI's administration costs)

Event Overview

Directors and boards are now faced with a raft of legal and regulatory challenges regarding non-financial risks in corporate governance and compliance from a range of Commonwealth and State laws overseen by a variety of Government organisations. The pace of change is continuing with climate change and cyber security ransom payment reporting obligations now in force, as well as legislative changes to anti money laundering legislation, foreshadowed changes to modern slavery laws, and changes by ASIC to Tranche 2 financial reporting obligations.

The objectives of the seminar are to provide local company directors with:

• An understanding of what the above regulatory changes mean for company directors at a practical level, and the implications of these changes for board members.

• A practical understanding of the consequences and associated penalties for companies, boards and individual directors.

• An examination of changes to director's duties and obligations and the impact of other legislative and regulatory action on existing duties.

• Suggestions for risk management and risk mitigation.
